The Children's Garden will be open until 9pm every Tuesday evening through August. Families After Five will feature nature themes and activities each week. Flowers After 5 (with Fidos on second Thursdays)

Kick back and relax at the Garden on Thursday evenings this summer! The Garden is open til 9 p.m. on these special evenings: July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; August 5, 12, 19, 26. Each night has a theme and the second Thursday of each month (July 8 and August 12) is also a Fidos After 5 night when leashed pets are allowed. Flowers After 5 is rain or shine; in case of extreme inclement weather, activities will be moved inside.

5 - 9 p.m. Strolling through the gardens and Conservatory, including the Glorious Glass exhibit -- hundreds of exquisite glass sculptures by internationally acclaimed artist Hans Godo Frabel. The Children's Garden is also open during Flowers After 5, although WaterPlay is not on (check out Families After 5 for after-hours WaterPlay).
6 - 8 p.m. Wine-tasting in the Rose Garden. Additional $10 wine ticket required; allows three samples (~4 ounces each). For those 21 years and older; ID required. Please see www.lewisginter.org/events/ for participating vineyards and themes; some nights have melon, cheese and tomato tastings, too!
6 - 8 p.m. Music and dancing in the Rose Garden. We're mixing it up this year -- everything from jazz to opera, bluegrass to dancing!
5 - 8 p.m. Dining in the Garden Cafe and the Tea House. Both restaurants have indoor and limited outdoor seating. The Garden Cafe offers sandwiches, salads, desserts and more; food from the Cafe may be taken out into the Garden. The Tea House offers a seated dinner with views of the Garden.
5 - 7 p.m. Browsing in the Garden Shop; offering an extensive collection of garden accents, books, gifts, toys and jewelry. www.lewisginter.org

Explore beautiful garden rooms boasting vast collections of rare and unusual plants on this personalized tour. Then enjoy lunch on the Pinkham's patio. Director of Horticulture, Brian O'Neil will escort the group for the day and share his expertise and insight. Enjoy the Rose Garden at full bloom with more than 1,800 fragrant roses planted in a colorful scheme; informal tours and rose "smellings." Ikebana of Richmond will exhibit Roses are Red -- floral displays throughout the Garden; all four schools of Ikebana will be represented. Saturday, 12:30-1:15 p.m. & 1:45-2:30 p.m. Op&ra & Roses: The Virginia Opera performs selections. Sunday, 12 - 2 p.m. Learn to Tango! Mid-South Native Plant Conference - Dixon Gallery and Gardens
With the theme "Natives and Beyond: Sustainable Plants, Gardens and Communities" the conference brings a world-class roster of nationally acclaimed horticulturalists, botanists, and other environmental experts to Memphis. The conference is hosted by Dixon Gallery and Gardens, 4339 Park Ave., Memphis, TN.
The purpose of the 2010 native plant conference is to promote awareness of the use of plant choices, horticultural practices and garden designs that work with nature and have a positive environmental impact. Attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in sessions with world-class speakers who will provide the tools necessary for safe and ecological gardening to increase their own sustainability.
An optional guided field trip through Overton Park's Old Forest and private garden tours will be offered on Sunday, October 10. Cost is $100 with registration prior to September 1, 2010 and $125 after includes light evening refreshments, continental breakfast, box lunch and on-site vendor access. http://www.dixon.org
